Oltremare was the first piece by Ludovico Einaudi that Danielle Riegel began playing on the harp, around five years ago in Portugal.
The music became closely connected with the landscape around her — the sea, the cliffs and the feeling of space that came with living in the Algarve. It was a piece that stayed with her, and eventually became the starting point for a much larger musical journey.
That connection is at the heart of Danielle’s new album, Einaudi on Harp – Oltremare (Beyond the Sea). The title track is also the longest piece on the recording and gives the album its name.
For Danielle, Oltremare carries a particularly personal connection. Hearing and playing the music has brought moments of tears and goosebumps over the years, and its relationship with the sea became part of the inspiration behind the album as a whole.
The single Oltremare is released internationally on 18 September 2026, ahead of the full album release by Challenge Records on 16 October.
